Conway's Game Of Life
A downloadable game for Windows and Android
Devised by the British mathematician John Horton Conway in 1970, and built in 2 versions here, is Conway's Game Of Life.
This Cellular Automaton system is a simple grid based system. Each step of the "Game" each cell of the grid does 1 of 3 things.
Live
Die
or
Be Born
This is decided based on the number of living neighbors the cell has. Decided as follows by the wiki....
- Any live cell with fewer than two live neighbors dies, as if by underpopulation.
- Any live cell with two or three live neighbors lives on to the next generation.
- Any live cell with more than three live neighbors dies, as if by overpopulation.
- Any dead cell with exactly three live neighbors becomes a live cell, as if by reproduction.
There are 2 modes in the game...
Mode 1: The entire grid is filled with cells starting with random alive or dead states and then you can watch "Life" unfold as it will.
Mode 2: You can "Draw" on the grid and turn cells on and off yourself to see how they will react when you press PLAY. It also keeps track of how many cells you are able to light up.
